#StaycationVibes - Ibis Styles Hotel Airport

The staycation after the vacation. One can never have too many rest days, am I right?(no I’m not, please continue to work hard).

A staycation is basically a vacation that doesn’t involve traveling. It can be at home or the nearest hotel to you - once it’s in the same town, it’s a staycation.

I had a vacation extension with a 3 day staycation at Ibis Styles Hotel in Airport. My first time at Ibis was a few years ago, but this is my first time actually staying here. It’s so lovely guys, let me give you the basic details.

“Ibis is a brand of economy hotels focused on evolutive design with simple and flexible furniture and owned by Accor” - Google.

It was founded in 1974 and there are currently 1174 branches all over the world.

Ibis Styles Accra opened in 2015 and has 192 rooms. It’s literally a 5 minute car-ride away from the airport which makes it a tourist favorite.

I got a junior suite with single occupancy which is ¢1860($335) a night.

The general room rates are

  • Standard single - ¢1035 ($185)

  • Standard double  - ¢1145 ($205)

  • Junior suite (single occupancy) - ¢1860 ($335) and for a

  • Junior suite (standard) - ¢1965($350).

Cool thing is they have rooms available for day use. So if you have a short layover in Accra or you need a room for just a few hours, you can get one. The rates are for

  • ¢425($77) for 3 hours

  • ¢530($95) for 6 hours

  • ¢640($115) for 9 hours.

(Valentine’s Day idea btwwwwww, you can plan a romantic night with the room for a few hours without breaking the bank. Get it for 3 hours(let’s say 7:00pm-10:00pm), set it up all romantic and that. For the married couples reading this, the glass shower faces the mirror🌚. I think you know where I’m going with this)

They have

  • 3 conference rooms (super affordable packages from literally just ¢1100),

  • A spa which is open Tuesday to Sunday 11:00am-9:00pm with massages from ¢250) and

  • A gym which is open every day from 6:00am-11:00pm.

The pool is on the first floor and is open from 8:00am-5:00pm (it’s not open to non-guests. You can swim if you’re with a guest though) and on Friday’s there’s a live music session. Basically the Friday night buffet is set up there too so you can eat and listen to the live band. Pretty neat.

There’s free WiFi for guests and they have adapters for those who need them, but you need to deposit ¢20 and when(if🌚) you return it you get your money back. They even have a laundry service (you need to give your stuff before 10:00am and you’ll get it back the same day. They’re not open on Sundays and public holidays) and a self ironing area on the 3rd and 6th floors. Adulting has me excited about that little detail😂.

So let’s talk about my favorite part - the food!

Looooved the prawns. I’m a seafood fanatic so it was literally my favorite thing. The sandwich was so loadedddd. The a-la-carte menu isn’t big, but they have more than enough. There are starters, mains, desserts, wines etc. The average wait time for food is 35 minutes, but there’s no room service, so you need to order from the restaurant downstairs and then take it to your room (but you can always find a waiter kind enough to carry it for you). You can do that with the all the buffets too - I mean you can pick what you want and go eat it in your room. Speaking of buffets, they have a

  • Ghanaian cuisine buffet on Wednesdays and & Sundays for ¢130.

  • Mixed Grill Buffet on Fridays, also for ¢120.

Every other day the buffet prices(minus drinks) are

  • Breakfast- ¢90

  • Lunch - ¢110 - Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays

  • Dinner - ¢110

They have a couple of themed ones every month, you’ll have to follow their page (www.instagram.com/ibisstyles_accra) for updates.

There’s Happy Hour on Thursdays and Fridays from 7:00pm-8:00pm and it’s buy one get one free🥂.
