Online Shopping In Accra - 10 Fashion Shops That Deliver To Ghana

1. Anne Summers

www.annsummers.com

• Minimum spend for delivery - None

• Minimum spend for free delivery - N/A

• Delivery fee & times - £10-£15, 4-15 working days (EXPEDITED SHIPPING available)

Even though Anne Summers is a sex toy and lingerie shop, the focus here is their lingerie. They have gorgeous sets and individual items (They used to have clothes, and I bought a birthday dress from them sometime in 2014, which I chickened out on wearing). They’re currently experiencing delays on deliveries to Ghana, so delivery could take about a month. You can order from our very own Odo Asem.

2. ASOS

www.asos.com

• Minimum spend for delivery - None

• Minimum spend for free delivery - N/A

• Delivery fee & times - £38.00, 5-7 working days (EXPEDITED SHIPPING ONLY)

ASOS is a British online fashion and cosmetic retailer. The company was founded in 2000 in London, primarily aimed at young adults. The website sells over 850 brands as well as its own range of clothing and accessories, and ships to all 196 countries from fulfilment centres in the UK, US and EU.

I love ASOS because they have some top brands available on their site, most of which dont deliver to Ghana themselves (like Nike and Moschino). They also have really nice shoes and great fashion finds for pretty decent prices.

They currently only have expedited shipping to Ghana for £38. (I wonder why, because when I started buying from them, it was free delivery over £20, £3.99 for less. I saw a Twitter exchange a while ago between them and a Ghanaian customer where they tweeted something to the effect of the customer using a fraudulent card and I hope for the love of all that is beautiful we haven’t been put on this expensive plan because some people tried to play smart).

Expedited parcels from ASOS attract a fee of 35-49% duty collected by whichever courier service they’re using.

3. Boohoo

www.us.boohoo.com

• Minimum spend for delivery - None

• Minimum spend for free delivery - N/A

• Delivery fee & times - $17.99, 5-14 working days

Boohoo, like ASOS, has clothes, accessories, shoes, make up etc for both women and men. They’re known for their great deals - you can get dresses for as low as £3/$5 on sale, (the fabric quality is pretty questionable occasionally).

Initially you could shop from their main site (the UK one) and have it delivered here but for some reason, that option is no longer available - Delivery to Ghana is now only available via the US site. In my experience shopping with them, parcels of 5 items and under were sent to my mailbox and those with 6 or more items were sent to the main post office where I had to pay *49% duty (absolutely ridiculous).

They generally accept Ghanaian cards, and I use the term generally because a few people have complained about transaction issues. Delivery can be tracked via the website.

4. Fashionnova

www.fashionnova.com

• Minimum spend for delivery - None

• Minimum spend for free delivery - N/A

• Delivery fee & times - $25 (EXPEDITED SHIPPING ONLY). Their lying asses say 2-3 business days but it takes well over a week. ALMOST 2)

Fun fact - Fashionnova, while mostly known as an online shop has 7 physical locations (US).

Packages from this site go straight to customs, and boy will you pay. You’ll be charged 49% of your item value before you can receive it - I ordered things worth $900 last year and listen…

Fashionnova clothes are generally good fabric, but the jeans, while perfect for curvy figures fade and stretch out of shape really fast. They have really cute lingerie at good prices, if you’re looking to be sexy for anyone anytime soon.

They’re a general favourite for IG models and influencers, and yes, that includes men because they recently launched a mens line. They have really good deals, and most of the basic in-vogue clothes are between $20-$35.

5. Macy’s

www.macys.com

• Minimum spend for delivery - None

• Minimum spend for free delivery - N/A

• Delivery fee & times - VARIES, 7-20 DAYS

Macy's is an American department store chain founded in 1858 by Rowland Hussey Macy. They sell many designer and upper-brand items, like clothes, bags, shoes and jewellery. Shipping from Macy’s international shipping takes 7-20 days, unless its a back-ordered item, then it takes a lot longer (the date of dispatch is usually visible on the item page. Start counting from then.)

There’s no fixed international delivery fee, as it depends on things like shipping speed (standard/express), number of items and package weight, but heads up, its pretty expensive.

Like certain department stores, Macy’s has restrictions on what can be shipped to Ghana. The current list includes beauty items, Chanel and Coach merchandise, electronics, fragrances, furniture and mattresses.

Missguided delivers to Ghana from their UK site only.

Basically a designer brand marketplace. Nordstrom offers free shipping, but only in the United States.

Like Macy’s, delivery prices are dependant on the amount of things in your package but they’re considerable less expensive than them.

Shoooeeeesss! Public Desire deals only in shoes - but the range! They have flats, heels, slippers - the options are many. 10. Saks Fifth Avenue

www.saksfifthavenue.com

Basically, another designer brand marketplace(they have over 300 brands online).

They are restrictions on things(mostly certain brands) that can be shipped to Accra though.

Honorary Mention:

1. AliExpress

www.aliexpress.com

• Minimum spend for delivery - None

• Minimum spend for free delivery - N/A

• Delivery fee & times - VARIES. Generally 3-4 weeks for deliveries to ghana.

“AliExpress is an online retail service based in China that is owned by the Alibaba Group. Launched in 2010, it is made up of small businesses in China and other locations, such as Singapore, that offer products to international online buyers.”

Aliexpress is one of the biggest e-commerce websites in the world. You’re connected to tens, if not hundreds of thousands of vendors of the same products, at different prices. You can get anything online - clothes, make-up, hair, furniture, tech stuff…ANYthing. Shopping on this site can be tricky, most vendors aren’t verified and you might end up with a bad product.

My advice - check the reviews before purchasing.

Each vendor sets their own price and sets the own shipping cost (a lot of vendors with free shipping) so there’s no fixed price for that.

2. Amazon

www.amazon.com

• Minimum spend for delivery - None

• Minimum spend for free delivery - N/A

• Delivery fee & times - VARIES. Generally 3-4 weeks for deliveries to ghana.

Majority of Amazon’s vendors don’t deliver to Ghana. Those that deliver do it via Amazon’s global shipping and the rates for those are highhh. lowest I’ve seen is a little over ¢700. Your best bet is to find a shipping company (like Shop and Ship) and make a box.
